Level 5 Certificate in Primary School PE Specialism 

Effectively and sustainably improve the delivery of primary PE.

If the PE curriculum is to provide pupils with opportunities to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and well-being, those who have the responsibility for its delivery need their own opportunities to grow in confidence and develop in skill.

That’s what this nationally-recognised qualification developed by the Association for Physical Education and Sports Leaders UK offers.

The opportunity to boost learners’ confidence, knowledge and skill to help raise PE teaching and learning standards.

Key course details

Who is the course for?

  • Teachers.
  • Higher level teaching assistants.
  • Teaching assistants - Need to have extensive experience in supporting teachers across all years and key stages in delivering PE.
  • Coaches - Need a minimum of five years experience of assisting teachers across Key Stage 1 and 2. They are required to have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in any sport they assist the teachers with.

Delivery

The qualification is delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face sessions by primary school physical education experts and subject specialists, including PE consultant Crichton Casbon.

It’s made up of 45 guided learning hours through online tutored learning, the sharing of best practice, interactive tasks and evidence-based assessments.

Costs

£1,150 (includes SLUK delegate registration fee of £175).

Your PE and sport premium is an effective and sustainable way to pay for this qualification.

 

Course dates

The next course starts: 

Cohort 15:

-10th and 11th October for sessions 1 & 2. 

-14th and 15th November for sessions 3 & 4. 

-23rd and 24th January for sessions 5 & 6. 

 

Cohort 16:

-30th and 31st January 2024 for sessions 1 & 2. 

-27th and 28th February for sessions 3 & 4. 

-7th and 8th May for sessions 5 & 6. 

Each day runs from 9am – 4pm.
